3222-3592 Oakcrest Dr, Gillette, WY 82718

Located near Pronghorn Elementary School in the southern part of Gillette. 200 acres of undeveloped land, Mount Nebo will be the site for future generations in Campbell County, when Mount Pisgah no longer has available burial space. At some future date, the site will be master planned as the next cemetery for Gillette and Campbell County residents.  In 2009 the Cemetery District executed a preliminary grading project to rough the cemetery contours into a more workable landscape for cemetery purposes.

Cemetery Info

Many people have asked why this cemetery is named Mount Nebo. It is a Biblical name. Some translators of the biblical book of Deuteronomy translate Pisgah as a name of a mountain, usually referring to Mount Nebo. The region is directly east of the Jordan River and just northeast of the Dead Sea. Mount Nebo is the highest among a handful of Pisgah summits; and cluster of hilltops on the western edge of the Trans-Jordanian Plateau.

In the Bible, God commanded Moses to climb up and view the Promised Land from Mount Nebo:

“And Moses went up from the plains of Moab unto the mountain of Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, that is over against Jericho”. (Deuteronomy 34:1).
